Portland Trail Blazers Vs Boston Celtics Game Day Preview

The Portland Trail Blazers take on the Boston Celtics in a Sunday afternoon game from the NBA bubble at Disney. While the Celtics are sitting in great position for the NBA Playoffs, the Blazers are still fighting for a spot with 7 games left. Expect a high scoring affair with the scorers these two teams possess in this nationally televised game.

Blazers

The Blazers come into this game with a ton of momentum after a thrilling overtime victory over the Memphis Grizzlies Friday afternoon. After holding the lead for most of the first half in that game, the Blazers played abysmal basketball in the third quarter and lost the lead. But they came firing back late in the fourth to tie the game and send it to OT. They ended up running away with it in OT and came up with a BIG win over the Grizzlies, the team that currently possessed the 8 seed for the playoffs in the Western Conference. That is the spot the Blazers are fighting for with these 7 games left. The Blazers are now currently 2.5 game back of that spot.

Portland was glad to have to have big man, Jusuf Nurkic, back in the lineup after he suffered a broken leg in March of 2019. He scored 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in his return. The Blazers will need all their big pieces to do their part if they want a shot at the playoffs. They will also need Damian Lillard, who is averaging 28.9 points a game this season, to continue to be the superstar he is. This team goes when he goes so it is critical he finished the season strong.

Celtics

While the Blazers had a great start in their return to the NBA season, the Celtics started off a little rough, losing to the first place Milwaukee Bucks, 119-112 on Friday. Although the score may make it look like it was a close, competitive game, the Celtics played sloppy basketball.

Jayson Tatum, the Celtics’ rising superstar, shot 2 for 18 from the field which hopefully is just him being rusty from the long layoff. Tatum is currently averaging 23.3 points a game this season but before the NBA went into hiatus in March, he was on a tear since the new year started. The other superstar on Boston, Kemba Walker, is still nursing an injury so he will be on a minutes restriction again so don’t expect his usual production for this game.
