Chicago Bears Vs Pittsburgh Steelers Game Day Preview

Khalil Herbert – Bears

Monday night’s matchup of the Chicago Bears vs Pittsburgh Steelers features two teams that are disappointed with how they are playing. The Pittsburgh Steelers are asking themselves if it is time to move on from Ben Roethlisberger, and the Bears are putting their rookie quarterback, Justin Fields, to the test. Chicago has lost three straight, while Pittsburgh has won three straight.

Chicago Bears

Bears running back David Montgomery is expected to come off of the injured reserve before Monday’s game, but he is not expected to be at one-hundred percent. Montgomery has been out since Week 4 after injuring his knee. Bears head coach Matt Nagy said, “He’s so eager to get back. We’ll keep an eye on where he is and we’ll see how he looks.”

In Mongomery’s absence, Khalil Herbert has stepped up as the running back for Chicago. He has 351 yards on 81 carries this season, averaging 4.3 yards per carry.

Justin Fields, who has started 6 games, has a 59.5 completion percentage. His touchdown to interception ratio is 3/7. Last week, the highlight of his game was his run game. He had 10 rushing attempts for a total of 103 yards and a touchdown. Despite the success, he fumbled the ball twice and threw an interception.

Darnell Mooney and Allen Robinson II have led the Bears in receiving. They average 4.1 and 3.3 receptions per game respectively. Also, they average 51`.1 and 33.9 yards per game.

The Bears defense averages 4 tackles for loss and a little over 2.5 sacks per game. However, they only average one takeaway per game.

During their three-game win streak, Pittsburgh has outscored their opponents 65-49. Last week’s game was interesting for the Steelers. They scored 15 resourceful points against the Browns. Placekicker Chris Boswell missed the entire second half with a concussion. He was limited in Thursday’s practice but is expected to start Monday Night.

Before the trade deadline on Tuesday, outside linebacker Melvin Ingram III was traded to the Chiefs for a sixth-round draft pick. The Steelers are confident in their defense without Ingram III. Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin is 24-4 against rookie quarterbacks since he joined the Steelers in 2007. The Pittsburgh defense still consists of stars like T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith.

The Steelers average a little over 2.5 sacks and around 5.5 tackles for loss per game. They have just 6 takeaways in 7 games this year.

Ben Roethlisberger averages 25 completions per game and 254 yards per game this season. He has thrown for 8 touchdowns and 4 interceptions while taking 14 sacks. Running back Najee harris averages 68.4 yards per game while scoring 3 touchdowns. He has also scored 2 receiving touchdowns.

Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool have led the Steelers in receiving. They average 5.7 and 3.7 receptions per game respectively. Additionally, they average 79 and 67.2 yards respectively.
