Waste Management Phoenix Open – 3 PGA Players To Watch

Webb Simpson – will look to defend his 2020 title but acknowledged that without to roaring crowd, the tournament will not be the same.

“I think playing out here for a while, you realize kind of how Tiger and Phil and these guys really use the crowd to their advantage,” said Simpson, who beat Tony Finau in a playoff a year ago. “The environment Tony and I played in last year on Sunday, the playoff … it’s so fun to be in that energy and to hear the noises, and all day you’re hearing roaring on 16 or boos.

“This tournament, at the end of the week, we always feel like we just played a major because we’re so tired.”

Webb Simpson – (Wast Management Phoenix Open)
Daniel Berger – is a great fit for this course and it shows in his results. He’s finished 11th or better in four of his six starts at TPC Scottsdale.

TPC Scottsdale doesn’t need to be overpowered, players need to keep the driver in play, have a great week with the irons and putt well on Bermuda. All of that suits Berger, who is also carrying some good form as he placed in the top-10 in both of his starts in Hawaii.

Scottie Scheffler –  is listed as a huge 45-1 long shot but we like him! He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so if you like value plays, this is your target.

Scheffler enters this tournament bashing the ball extremely well off the tee. He is averaging over 300 yards per drive this season. Scheffler’s ability to smoke the ball deep into the fairway allows him to use his short irons to approach the green. That combination has helped him hit 70.37 percent of greens in regulation this season, which has resulted in 135 birdies in just 30 rounds.

The 24-year-old ranks 26th on the PGA Tour in birdie average (4.50), which has helped him secure a top-20 finish in three of his last six starts.
