With the coronavirus pandemic still in its early stages, Smackdown will air from the WWE Performance Center with no crowd in attendance due to the country restrictions on gatherings of large parties. This will be the 3rd to last Smackdown before Wrestlemania.

WWE Smackdown 3/20 Show Preview
It’s been one week since WWE held its first full “empty” arena episode of television. Since then, WWE and AEW have both held shows in empty arenas due to the COVID-19 pandemic blazing through the United States and the rest of the world. While the rest of the sports world is shut down right now, WWE continues to provide new content on both of their flagship shows when we need it most. This week’s Smackdown will be no different as we inch closer to Wrestlemania.
Goldberg vs Roman Reigns Contract Signing
One of the big news items to be showcased on Smackdown and the biggest is the contract signing for the Universal Championship match at Wrestlemania between the champion, Goldberg, and his opponent, Roman Reigns. It will be their first face to face since this match became official a few weeks ago.
The match that has been branded “spear” vs “spear” due to the men both utilizing the same move. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this contract signing lasts longer than their actual match at ‘Mania. Goldberg is known for having short matches due to his age. He is also known for fumbling on the mic so this appearance with Reigns should be highly entertaining.
Rob Gronkowski Debuts
Future NFL Hall of Famer and personality, Rob Gronkowski, makes his highly anticipated debut on this edition of Smackdown. Ever since Wrestlemania 33 where he made an appearance, Gronk has been rumored to be joining the WWE and now that he has retired from the NFL, he has done just that.
Gronkowski has been announced as the host of Wrestlemania this year and will go into detail of his role on this episode of Smackdown. Now that it’s been announced that Wrestlemania will take place over two nights this year for the first time ever, wrestling fans everywhere are awaiting more news of that development which should also be provided by Gronk and WWE.

A bunch of title matches have already been announced for Wrestlemania but most of Smackdown’s title scene is a mystery. 3 titles that don’t have matches at ‘Mania yet are the Smackdown Women’s Title, the Intercontinental Title, and the Smackdown Tag Titles. We should get more info on those titles on this show. I would be shocked if Bayley, Sami Zayn, and Miz and Morrison didn’t make some type of appearance on this show since we are only two weeks away from Wrestlemania.
