Yankees Vs Mets – Game Day Preview – ESPN Sunday Night Baseball – 2018 Subway Series Edition
ESPN Sunday Night Baseball was supposed to feature a matchup of two Superhero Pitchers. Noah Syndergaard vs. Luis Severino. Thor vs. The Flash. It’s not an official nickname for Severino but it’s fitting because of his lighting fast fastball and a blink and you’ll miss it slider. Crosstown rivals with their stud pitchers on the mound. It’s everything you’d want in a nationally broadcast game but it’s not meant to be. Syndergaard had a setback in his return from injury and will not take the mound Sunday night. Seth Lugo will take the ball instead.
The Yankees will go for the sweep on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball and try to create a bigger gap in between the haves (the Yankees) and the have nots (the Mets). When the Yankees beat the Mets on the field they just don’t show their superiority in between the lines. They show their organization “gets it” and the Mets don’t.
ESPN Sunday Night Baseball Will Talk About Quick NYY Rebuild
The Yankees underwent the quickest rebuild in MLB history in 2016 and found themselves a game from the World Series in 2017 and now a juggernaut in 2018. The Mets have wallowed in mediocrity since their World Series appearance in 2015. The Yankees call up one young superstar after another. Aaron Judge, Luis Severino, Gary Sanchez, Gleyber Torres, Miguel Andujar and there’s plenty more looming. The Mets haven’t been able to support Jacob deGrom and Syndergaard with homegrown talent. Amed Rosario is hitting .247, no one can find Dom Smith and Michael Conforto was actually pinch hit for in a one run game in the 9th on Saturday.
When the Mets need to fill holes, they shop at Wal-Mart and look for bargains on guys like Jay Bruce, Todd Frazier and Adrian Gonzalez. The Yankees like shopping on 5th Avenue even when they don’t need anything as proven by the Giancarlo Stanton deal. The point is the Yankees are always trying to get better while the Mets are just trying to not be awful and it’s not working. They’ve lost ten games in a row at home which is almost impossible to do.
ESPN Sunday Night Baseball, the Mets could’ve used a massive swing of Thor’s Hammer. Instead they’ll turn to spot starter not worthy of holding Mjolnir. Hardly the type of kryptonite needed to slow down the SuperMen wearing the road jerseys. Through the first two games of Round One of the 2018 Subway Series, the Yankees have proven that Gotham is now and forever will be their town.
