WWE Wrestlemania 36 Match Card Preview

It’s the first Wrestlemania too big for one night as WWE’s biggest event of the year takes place on two consecutive nights. ‘Mania this year is going to be weird and unpredictable as there will be no fans in attendance for the first time ever due to obvious reasons. Although the fans make WWE shows more enjoyable, having no fans in the arena this year should make for a very unique show. The curiosity alone makes this Wrestlemania must see. There are plenty of great matches that fill this two night card but there are four in particular that have show stealing potential.

WWE Championship Match – Brock Lesnar vs Drew McIntyre

WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar has one of his strongest tests to date when he faces Drew McIntyre with Lesnar’s title on the line. Drew won the Royal Rumble back in January where he memorably eliminated Lesnar in that match to set this story. Before the travel bans and social distancing guidelines, this feud was pretty hot on Monday Night Raw. But ever since Raw moved to the WWE Performance Center, McIntyre has been mostly absent from the show while Brock and Paul Heyman have carried the story forward with some amazing promos. This is one of the reasons I don’t see McIntyre beating Lesnar for the title at Wrestlemania. Another reason is that WWE might want to save McIntyre’s coronation as champion for a show with a big crowd as opposed to no crowd at all.

NXT Championship Match – Rhea Ripley vs Charlotte

Never before has an NXT Championship been defended at Wrestlemania. That all changes this weekend when NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley faces off against arguably the greatest women’s wrestler of all time, Charlotte. When Charlotte won the Women’s Royal Rumble, many fans hoped she would challenge Ripley since she had already had numerous feuds with the other two women’s champs. But it was Ripley who showed up on Raw to challenge Charlotte. After some antagonizing, Charlotte finally accepted the challenge. This is the biggest match of Ripley’s career and a win could solidify her as a top star for years to come. Every match Charlotte has had at ‘Mania has been good to great and this year should be no different.

Firefly Fun House Match – John Cena vs “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt

This is a Wrestlemania 30 rematch with a crazy twist. John Cena will go toe to toe with “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in the first ever Firefly Fun House match. No one has any idea what this match entails but going by the Firefly Fun House promos over the past year, it should be absolute bonkers. Both these men have been on their A game with promos for this match so it has become one fans can’t wait to see. After losing the Universal Championship to Goldberg last month, Wyatt cannot afford another high profile loss. Especially when he has gained back most of his credibility after WWE almost butchered his pre-Fiend run. Cena won back at “Mania 30 so logic would indicate that he would use his star power to give Wyatt a big win on the biggest show of the year. With both men being two of the most popular in the business, this match should be given plenty of time and be a showcase match for one of the nights.

Last Man Standing Match – Edge vs Randy Orton

Edge makes his long awaited return to singles action when he faces Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match at Wrestlemania. The former partners have been at odds ever since Edge returned and was promptly taken out by Orton. Edge hasn’t wrestled a singles match since Wrestlemania 27 when he had to retire after the match due to neck problems. But now he’s back and ready to prove he belongs again. The promos for this match have been intense and brilliant. Both men are on another level right now which is why many fans believe this is the true main event of Wrestlemania. This will be a brutal match with both men leaving it all out there. By the end of it, it could possibly be an instant classic.
