This Week In Wrestling

While StatementGames has always offered professional wrestling pay per views in its games & tournaments, beginning this past March StatementGames now offers tournaments for weekly, episodic professional wrestling shows. WWE Raw and Smackdown, as well as AEW Dynamite, now have weekly tournaments brought to you by StatementGames. With all professional sports on hold in the United States, StatementGames got creative and thought of a different way to keep its users engaged daily during these difficult times.

So far the tournaments have been a hit on StatementGames. It’s for that reason that StatementGames will be producing a This Week In Wrestling blog moving forward. With so much happening in professional wrestling every week, This Week In Wrestling will highlight the main stories from each show that occurs in that given week.

WWE Raw – Monday April 20, 2020

Raw this past week featured multiple superstars competing to qualify for the Money In The Bank match. Aleister Black defeated Austin Theory, Rey Mysterio beat Murphy, and Apollo Crews won his match against MVP. Those 3 men will now compete at the Money In The Bank pay per view to see who will successfully grab the contract that guarantees a title match anywhere, anytime for the full calendar year. Although he lost, it seems MVP is getting back into the wrestling game. He returned back at the Royal Rumble and has been used sparingly ever since. Even so, we predicted he would have OVER 1.5 appearances on the show which ended up being a CORRECT pick.

AEW Dynamite – Wednesday April 22, 2020

Women’s wrestling took a backseat on this edition of Dynamite as the women were barely featured this week. We CORRECTLY predicted the women would have UNDER 1.5 matches on this show. The main attraction this week was the TNT Championship Tournament. The last two matches of the first round took place on Wednesday night. Darby Allin overcame a sneak attack from Sammy Guevara before their match to advance to the semi-finals. And in the main event, Dustin Rhodes defeated Kip Sabian. Rhodes had vowed to retire if he lost to Sabian. The semi-finals are now set with Darby Allin set to face Cody and Dustin Rhodes will be wrestling the dangerous Lance Archer.

WWE Smackdown – Friday, April 24, 2020

One the greatest careers in wrestling history was weirdly celebrated on Smackdown this week. This week marked the 25th anniversary of Triple H in WWE. Smackdown featured video packages of Triple H’s best matches and moments in professional wrestling. The show ended with Vince McMahon, Shawn Michaels and others congratulating “The Game” on an amazing career. While it was nice to see Triple H’s hard work celebrated, the closing segment came across very weird. We predicted a match would close the show and obviously that was not the case here.
