St. Louis Blues Vs Minnesota Wild Game Day Preview

Jared Spurgeon – (Minnesota Wild)

A West division rivalry between St. Louis who is trying to sneak into the playoffs by holding off Arizona. While over the past week the third place Wild have clinched a playoff spot. Wild still have games to play for with nine games remaining. Wild is hoping to move into second place for home ice advantage for first round, maybe even first place where they are only four points out. The Blues have games in hand on fifth place Coyotes, so if they take advantage of those games, they will have a good shot of making playoffs.

St. Louis Blues

The blues are on a two game winning streak after beating Colorado on Monday night. With the win on Monday the Blues moved back into a playoff spot over Arizona with two games in hand.

On Monday the Blues beat Colorado by the score of 4-1. With goals by Vladimir Tarasenko, Brayden Schenn, David Perron and Robert Thomas. Big win for Blues to show they are worthy of making a run to playoffs and they can surprise people while beating the top teams in their division.

St. Louis was led on the backend on Monday night by number one goalie Jordan Binnington. He needs to get hot in net if they want to make a push this postseason. He is having an average season by his standards with a 14-14-5 record.

Blues are led by Ryan O’Reilly with 20 goals and 23 assists for 43 points and David Perron with 13 goals and 29 assists for 42 points. Without them they would be at the bottom of the NHL playing for the top pick in the NHL draft.

Jordan Binnington on Monday’s game, “It was a solid game by everyone. We were playing for each other, laying the body. It was a smooth game through and through.”

Minnesota Wild
NHL Fantasy Hockey

The Wild are one of the surprise teams in the NHL this season. From going just 35-27-7 to get into play in round as the 10th seed because of covid-19 to this year being one of the best teams in NHL going for division title.

Minnesota is one of the hottest teams in the NHL. Wild are on a 7-game winning streak. Led by Russian rookie star Kirill Kaprizov, who has 22 goals and19 assists for 41 points the season to lead the team.

Wild have been going back and forth with their goalie tandem all year, but it looks like during the second half of the season they are going with the hot guy. Cam Talbot leading the wild in starts with 27 with a record of 17-6-3 with a 2.33 goals against average and .926 save percentage.

It is not like the other goalie has been bad. Kaapo Kahkonen had a big run in the middle of the season. He took the run in the middle of the season, but only has 20 starts to Talbot 27. Kahkonen is 14-7-0 with a 2.68 goals against average and .910 save percentage. Looking at the numbers you can see why the Wild are going with Talbot, just has better numbers.

Jared Spurgeon on Wild run, “It’s just been fun right now.”
