Consecutive wins for the New York Jets will not prevent the team from parting ways with Adam Gase come Monday. On the flip side, this is UNCHARTED territory for the New England Patriots. The team is staring at a 4 game loosing streak and will not be making a NFL playoff acquaintance for the first time in 11 years.

Ok, so the Trevor Lawrence watch is over. The bright spot for the Jets is that quarterback Sam Darnold looks like the guy capable of leading the Jets. After going 22 of 31 in his return to Los Angeles, the USC standout hit two crucial touchdown passes against Cleveland. And in both games, the mistakes that have consistently derailed this offense did not transpire.
“Winning cures everything,” Darnold said. “When you win, the guys have more energy throughout the week.”
New York will play without starting running back Frank Gore (chest/lung) and backup La’Mical Perine (COVID-19) leading into last game of a forgettable 2020 season.
New England Patriots
As recently as Week 14, it appeared there might be a path for New England to play January football. After a 45-0 beat down of the Los Angeles Chargers, it was 6-6 and appearing to peak when Belichick teams tend to.
But the Patriots’ offense soured since. New England has scored just one touchdown — Cam Newton’s 9-yard run in the second quarter of Monday night’s 38-9 blowout loss to Buffalo — and 24 points.
As a result of the lack of production, the speculation is back on if Jarrett Stidham will replace Cam as starter for the final game of the season.
“I think it’s a combination of things that we can all do better,” Bill Belichick said about the offense.
