Los Angeles Dodgers vs Houston Astros Series Preview

Before the madness of the COVID-19 pandemic began, there were two series baseball fans were looking forward to this season. Those were the Houston Astros against the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yankees and Dodgers were the two teams most affected by the sign stealing scandal the Astros concocted back in 2017 and 2018. But due to the pandemic and shortened season, the Yankees will not play the Astros in the regular season but the Dodgers get their first shot at revenge only one week into this 60 game sprint.

It can be heavily argued that the Dodgers would have won the 2017 World Series if the Astros had not cheated. And the Dodgers know that and have been waiting since January to for the day to come where they could face the Astros again. So only 6 days into the 2020 season, the most anticipated series of the year takes place.

The Astros have come out of the gate with a 3-1 record, although they did get those wins a not so good Seattle Mariners team. Houston was dealt a blow thought as their ace, Justin Verlander, will be shut down for a few weeks due injury. Now the Astros are without their two top pitchers from last year since Gerrit Cole left and signed with the Yankees.

Fantasy Baseball

With the loaded team the Dodgers have, they should not have split their 4 game series against the depleted San Francisco Giants. So the Dodgers enter this series 2-2. But heading to a hitter friendly stadium like Minute Maid Park will wake up the monster bats of LA.

Both teams have loaded lineups and a ton to prove in this series. A lot of runs will be scored over these 2 games but I don’t think the Astros get many off of Dodgers ace, Walker Buehler. He will be the game changer for the game he pitches as the Astros have no one to match up against him on the mound. Expect Mookie Betts, Cody Bellinger, and Max Muncy to have big games against the Houston pitching staff.
