The Los Angeles Clippers will play the Los Angeles Lakers in a battle between the two best teams in the Western Conference. Many believe that it will be one of these two teams, along with the Milwaukee Bucks, that will win the NBA Championship.

Besides losing to the Lakers just days before the NBA season was put on hiatus, the Clippers were rolling towards the NBA playoffs. In their last 5 games, they had defeated star studded teams like the 76ers, Rockets and Thunder. There’s no question about how good the Clippers are. They have perhaps the deepest roster in basketball. But they will re-start the season missing 3 important pieces. Montrezl Harrell, Lou Williams, and Patrick Beverly will miss Thursday’s opener against the Lakers. 

Missing those 3 pieces gives the Lakers a pretty big advantage over the Clippers. So to make up for losing those 3 talents, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will have to carry the load if the Clippers want to win. Expect these two to have big nights against the Lakers.

Lakers

Just as many people believe the NBA is trying to get Zion Williamson into the playoffs which is why the league did not go straight to playoff play, many believe the NBA will resume its season in attempt to get Lebron James his first ring with the Lakers. It is said that if Lebron did not want to resume the season that NBA would have just shut it down. Who knows if that is true but make no mistake, James is heavily determined to win the championship this year. 

With superstar Anthony Davis at his side, James has perhaps his best chance to win the title. The Lakers were gelling before the season was put on hiatus as they had 4 HUGE wins in a row, two of those against the 2 most likely teams to thwart their chances at a title, the Bucks and Clippers. This season is about Lebron and AD making a statement and expect that to continue against the depleted Clippers. I believe the Lakers cover the spread easily in this game.
