Los Angeles Clippers vs. Dallas Mavericks Game Day Preview
The Los Angeles Clippers take on the Dallas Mavericks for the third time this season on Thursday. Los Angeles has won the first two games of the series by an average of 9 points. Neither the Clips or the Mavs have played great basketball since the NBA restarted in the bubble in Orlando. They have each gone 1-2 since basketball play resumed last week.

Regardless of how they have played lately, the Clippers are still one of the top 3 favorites to win the NBA Championship this year. Since returning to play last week, the Clippers have lost 2 of 3 games played and both those games they lost by 2 points. ONE BASKET was the difference in both those games and this is a Clips’ team that is playing short-handed. They have yet to play a game in the bubble with their full squad.
For the Clippers to beat a good Mavs team, they will have to rely on superstar, Kawhi Leonard. Against the Mavericks this year, Kawhi is averaging 32 points a game. He is a big reason the Clippers are 2-0 against Dallas this season. Another key to defeating Los Angeles is the Clippers’ defense. While the Mavericks average 116 points a game, they have scored only 99 and 107 points in the prior two meetings with the Clippers.

The Mavericks come into this game still in awe of their superstar Luka Doncic’s last game. Doncic had 34 points, 20 REBOUNDS, and 12 assists in the Mavs’ win over the Sacramento Kings Tuesday. In only his second season in the league, Luka has easily become a top 10, if not top 5, player in all of basketball.
But the Mavericks have had their struggles lately. They have been giving up a ton of points which means the defense has been severely lacking. The Mavs’ defense can’t have an off game against a very formidable Clippers’ offense. Dallas’ defense on average gives up 111 points a game which against the Clippers would be too much especially with the great defense Los Angeles plays.
