All Star starter Luka Doncic will lead the Dallas Mavericks up against the eastern conference favorites Brooklyn Nets.
The Nets are on a 7 game winning streak without Kevin Durant but their other two co-stars James Harden and Kyrie Irving are leading the way.
Dallas Mavericks
The Mavs have a record of 15-16 on the season but are 7-3 in their last 10 games.
On Thursday night the Mavs faced off with the 76ers. 76ers blew out the Mavs 111-97.
Luka Doncic didn’t have one of those MVP type games like he needs to have for the Mavs to have a chance against the top teams in NBA. Doncic had 19 points, 4 assists and 3 blocks.
Mavs only big injury was Porzingis knee surgery during the offseason that led to the 7’3 center to miss the early part of the season.
Going into the year everyone throughout the NBA and the fans believed Dallas would take that next step but it hasn’t happened. Mavs have been inconsistent all year long. Just starting to get hot but then put up a showing like they did on Thursday night vs Philadelphia.
“We just didn’t play with energy. I think that was the point. It didn’t look like us. We just didn’t bring the energy tonight. Luka Doncic said.
That has been the problem all year long. Dallas has been so inconsistent because they don’t bring energy and effort that the top teams need to bring every night to win each game.
Luka needs more help to win. He’s one of the top players in NBA, just like his coach Rick Carlisle said “Luka is a top five player in the game.” You can’t just win off talent every night you need your supporting cast to show up.
Brooklyn Nets
The Nets are trying to keep their hot streak going as they take on the rising Mavs and Luka Doncic.
In their most recent game, Nets won their 8th straight game with a 129-92 blow out win over Orlando. Kyrie Irving and James Harden led the show again without Kevin Durant. Irving had 27 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists, while James Harden had 20 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists.
Nets have been hit with covid-19 protocols and injuries this year. Especially to their co-star Kevin Durant who has missed games due to covid-19, Achilles rest and now hamstring tightness. Durant has been out since February 13 with the hamstring injury.
