AEW Dynamite 7/22 Show Preview
AEW Dynamite is back after the show was taken over by 3 pay-per-view like events the last 3 weeks. But AEW is not taking it’s foot off the gas as Wednesday’s show is jam-packed with action. This week’s Dynamite has another loaded card as well as some other promo segments that should have wrestling fans talking after the show is over.
Cody will defending his TNT Championship against a mystery opponent that AEW is calling “one of the best independent wrestlers in the business.” The Young Bucks will take on The Butcher & The Blade in a Falls Count Anywhere match as these two teams continue to have issues with each other. After his critical remarks against Jurassic Express while on commentary during their match last week, Chris Jericho will team with fellow Inner Circle member, Jake Hager, to take on the exciting duo of Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy.
Another match on the card will be a Women’s division match between Ivelisse and Diamante. Hangman Page goes up against Dark Order member, Five, in a match that could show who might challenge the tag champions next. Lastly, MJF will be in action as well. As far as promos are concerned, Jon Moxley, Brian Cage, and Taz will speak about last week’s AEW Heavyweight Championship match.
The Butcher & The Blade vs. The Young Bucks – Falls Count Anywhere Match
The rivalry between the Young Bucks, FTR, the Lucha Bros, and The Butcher & The Blade continues on this week’s Dynamite. These 4 teams have been feuding for weeks now with the Young Bucks and FTR combining forces to try and take down the other two teams. The feud has been pretty even at this point and last week, FTR defeated the Lucha Bros in a great match. So now the Young Bucks will take on the Butcher & The Blade in a Falls Count Anywhere match.
Depending on who is Cody’s challenger for the TNT Championship, this will likely be the match of the night. With the Falls Count Anywhere stipulation, it’s almost a guarantee that FTR and the Lucha Bros will get involved in this which will lead to a fun, chaotic match. This whole feud looks like it’s been leading to the inevitable clash between the Bucks and FTR. So, I expect The Young Bucks to come away with the win here and for more seeds to be planted to get us to that eventual dream match.
Jurassic Express vs. Inner Circle – Tag Team Match
Chris Jericho was very critical of Jurassic Express last week when he was on commentary during their match against the Elite. I’m sure Jurassic Express wasn’t too pleased with this and now they have a match against Jericho and Jake Hager on this week’s Dynamite. Ever since losing the AEW Heavyweight Championship to Jon Moxley in February, Chris Jericho has been working with the young talent in AEW to help create new stars for the company and it seems to be working. Just ask Orange Cassidy. His feud with Jericho will be talked about years from now as the turning point of his career.
Jurassic Express sharing the ring with Jericho and Hager this week is great for them and AEW. AEW needs to create more stars that are not from the WWE. So pairing these young guys up with Jericho, their most recognizable star, is the best move. Win or lose, this will only have positive effects on Jungle Boy and Luchasuarus’ careers. Unless Orange Cassidy interferes in this to further his feud with Jericho, I see the Inner Circle walking away the winners here. They are AEW’s top faction and need to continue to look strong as they are most of the few credible heels in the company.
