AEW Dynamite 4/22 Show Preview
AEW brings us another brand new edition of Dynamite this week. With most of the sports and entertainment world on hiatus, we can only be thankful that companies like AEW and WWE continue to bring us new content every single week. This edition of Dynamite looks to be a thriller as it will feature the final two matches of the first round of the TNT Championship tournament.
Dustin Rhodes vs. Kip Sabian – TNT Championship First Round Match
The match between Dustin Rhodes and Kip Sabian on Dynamite might be the highest stakes match in AEW’s short history. Dustin Rhodes, who has hadh a long, storied career, has vowed to retire if he cannot beat Kip Sabian on Wednesday. While it makes for great television drama, I don’t believe Dustin Rhodes will be losing this match. I have said since the bracket was revealed that this tournament is building towards a Cody versus Lance Archer finals. Their feud has been building since Archer’s debut last month and it looks to culminate at AEW’s next pay per view, Double or Nothing,
The reason I bring this up while talking about Dustin Rhodes is because for those who do not know, Cody is Dustin’s brother. By defeating Kip Sabian, it puts Rhodes up against Archer in the semi-finals of the tournament. Having Archer beat and possibly destroy Dustin Rhodes in that match would be an AMAZING building block to the eventual clash between Cody and Lance Archer. That’s an obvious opportunity AEW can’t waste while fleshing out this story. So after a valiant effort from Kip Sabian, Dustin Rhodes should move on to the second round.
Sammy Guevara vs. Darby Allin – TNT Championship First Round Match
Dynamite will see two of the brightest, up and coming stars in AEW face off in the last first round match of the TNT Championship tournament. Sammy Guevara against Darby Allin is a spotlight on the present and future of AEW. While this match is taking place on a regular Wednesday Night Dynamite, this could be a look at the main event of a major AEW show in the future. Both men have been spotlighted tremendously on AEW since its inception which is going to lead to great things for the new company. AEW needs to make its own major stars and these two are almost guaranteed to be some of them. They are both exciting, high octane wrestlers who can put on a great match with anyone. This match will steal the show with a win from either man satisfying AEW fans everywhere.
