Prior to the start of the inaugural XFL season, this matchup between the Houston Roughnecks and the Dallas Renegades was already highly anticipated. Lo and behold, as week four rolls around these two teams have lived up to their hype as XFL championship contenders, which should help encourage this new-found rivalry.

Houston Roughnecks
The Houston Roughnecks are now the only undefeated team in the XFL and have the best chance of winning the championship. Roughnecks went on the road for the first time in 2020 and continued their winning spree by beating the Tampa Bay Vipers, 34-27 at Raymond James Stadium. P.J. Walker continued his MVP campaign by completing 24-of-36 passes for 306 yards and three touchdowns. WR Cam Phillips proved to be unstoppable for the Vipers defense as he caught eight passes for 194 yards. The Roughnecks had a bit of an off day on defense however by allowing 365 total yards but they remained plus-one in the turnover battle.
Houston allowed Tampa Bay to convert two of three red-zone opportunities as well as 50 percent of their third down plays. This will be something the Roughnecks will need to tighten up on to defeat the Renegades at home. Offense is where the Roughnecks haven’t had an issues finding success this year however. Head coach June Jones has built a duel-threat system that allows for Walker to dominate unprepared defenses as he leads the XFL with 748 passing yards and has thrown ten touchdowns to just one interception. This will be the thorn in the side of Dallas if they want to give Houston their first loss of the season.
Dallas Renegades
The Dallas Renegades picked up its second road win last weekend, as they rallied back from a 12-6 halftime deficit to defeat the Seattle Dragons, 24-12. Landry Jones started the game off slowly but ended up getting the job done with 274 passing yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Overall, the Dallas defense did their job by holding the Dragons to only 12 points in the first half and completely shutting them out in the second half. This is the type of defensive performance needed to give Houston their first loss but P.J. Walker will be a much more difficult beast to contain than the Dragons.
Donald Parham helped Dallas walk away with a win by catching five passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns. It’s no surprise why he is one of the top tight ends in the XFL last week. Throughout the season, Parham has caught 14 passes for 217 yards, so it will be important for Jones to feed him the ball early. Although they showed some signs of weakness last week, the Houston defense as been notoriously stout and their linebackers should offer a tough matchup for Parham. With great play-makers on both teams, this game should come down to coaching ability. The Dallas Renegades and the Houston Roughnecks both offer some of the best head coaching ability in the XFL with Bob Stoops and June Jones.
