WWE Raw 8/3 Show Preview
The Road to Summerslam officially started last week on Raw when Randy Orton challenged WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre, to a title match at the biggest show of the summer. Orton then preceded to RKO McIntyre at the end of the show and held up the WWE Championship as the show went off the air. McIntyre will respond to Orton’s actions on this edition of Raw.
Also on Raw, Asuka will be out for revenge after losing the Raw Women’s Championship to Sasha Banks. This was due to Bayley’s heinous attack backstage on Kairi Sane, which led to Asuka being counted out as she went to help her friend. Asuka will be on the hunt for Banks and Bayley Monday night.
The only match being advertised for this week’s Raw is United States Champion, Apollo Crews, versus MVP for the title. MVP has been claiming to be the US Champion after Apollo Crews’ long absence from Raw. MVP even had a new title belt made for himself. These two will go toe to toe on Raw to see who is the real champion.
Drew McIntyre Responds to Randy Orton’s Attack
The two biggest and hottest MALE superstars on Raw this year have been Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton. Both have taken their careers to the next level and have been doing their best to keep eyes on the Raw brand. So it only made sense that these two would wrestle each other for the WWE Championship at the biggest wrestling show of the summer, Summerslam. It’s the biggest match the Raw brand could offer at the moment and it’s also a match fans want to see.
So when Orton made the challenge last week to McIntyre, it wasn’t a shock to anyone. It also wasn’t a shock when Orton RKO’d McIntyre as Raw was ending. Orton has always played mind games with his opponents and always attacks them when they least expect it or are vulnerable. But now this week, McIntyre will be on the lookout for Orton and will have some words for his next challenger. I would not be surprised to see the two men come to blows on Raw as they build towards their big match in 3 weeks. This match will be given a lot of promo time in the weeks to come as it will likely headline Summerslam.
Asuka Wants Revenge!
Asuka is no longer the Raw Women’s Champion but that is not the reason she is ticked off. During her title match with Sasha Banks, Banks’ partner in crime, Bayley, viciously assaulted Asuka’s best friend, Kairi Sane, backstage while Asuka watched in the arena. Asuka made the choice to leave her match and be counted out to save help her friend. In doing so, she lost the championship. So put all that together and you can see that Asuka will be out for blood Monday night.
I hope the acts of Sasha Banks and Bayley turn Asuka into the badass she used to be. Asuka was once the most feared woman in WWE but that has been lost the last two years due to bad booking by WWE. This is the perfect scenario to bring back the Asuka of old and make her a big deal again. This edition of Raw will show us once and for all what WWE sees in Asuka and I hope they think as highly of her as most, if not all, fans do.
