When you look at the current clubs fielded by Real Madrid and Liverpool, the two appear to have their production come from different parts of their lineup.
For Real Madrid, it’s their forwards. Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the top players of the modern game, and Karim Benzema have 19 goals in the Champions League this season. Ronaldo has 15 in 12 contests while Benzema has four in eight matches.
For Liverpool, it’s their midfield, with all three of their top scorers being midfielders. The trio of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mané have totaled 29 Champions League goals in 2017-18. Firmino and Salah each have 10 goals in 12 matches, while Mané has 9 goals in 10 contests.
Sadio Mané Warning to Real Madrid
Sadio Mane’ said – “I think more goals are coming,”. “Of course I am happy, but as a striker you’d love to score every single game to help your team. Now we have one more important game, so why not try to do our best, score for the team and win the trophy?”
The midfield trio on Liverpool have totaled 90 goals this entire season, Mané with 19, Firmino with 27, and Salah leading the club with 44.
Mané continued to state – “Like I have always said, I have always been enjoying playing alongside these great players”. “They make everything easier for me. I am a lucky boy. But we always talk about the front three. Don’t forget it starts from the guys behind. They make it easier.”
Real Madrid Are The Defending Champions
Real Madrid are the reigning champs in the Champions League, defeating derby rivals Atletico Madrid on penalties in 2016 and Juventus last year. This season, Real had to get past France champions Paris Saint-Germain, Italy title holders Juventus and German champions Bayern Munich.
Even with last season’s thrilling title, Real Manager Zinédine Zidane says that means absolutely nothing heading into Saurday’s bout.
“That we won last year does not mean anything, or that we have more experience,” Zidane said. “Maybe [Liverpool’s players] have not played many finals, but both teams want to win just the same. I don’t think any rival can have more hunger than us. We have the same motivation and commitment as always.
“The most difficult [thing] is to make it here, to another final, and it has been so tough this year. But motivation, never dropping our hands, this team, these players have that.”
