And while the Clippers are currently sitting in a tie for second in the West, it’s apparent that the sixth-place 76ers have underperformed through the first half of the season.

The 76ers have absolutely dominated on their home court through 53 games with only 2 losses this season at Wells Fargo Center. Philadelphia has always been one of the most hostile environments for a visiting team in any sport and that home crowd energy might be exactly the kind of intangible factor that could propel Philly past the Clippers. On paper, the Clippers are simply a better team in most aspects of the game. That being said, the difference is marginal in a number of the stats where the Clippers come out ahead.

The ways that the ‘6ers are statistically better in this matchup are where they’ll need to focus on if they’re going to keep their home loss record at two. Their effective field goal percentages are slightly better than LA’s. Taking and making high percentage shots will be key against the Clippers’ defense.

If the Clippers don’t impose their will on this game in the first 12 minutes, the home crowd momentum might be enough to let the 76ers get out to a lead that could be hard for the Clippers to make up later in the game.

The starting power forward matchup between Kawhi Leonard and Tobias Harris is one the Clippers should look to exploit. Besides the fact that Leonard is one of the best defenders in the game, Tobias Harris’ best defensive plus/minus in a season is 0.4. This season, he is -0.1. Kawhi should be able to have his way all night long in this matchup.
