Letdown Vs Chicago Blackhawks

Coming off a terrific OT win in the Winter Classic vs. Buffalo Sabres, the New York Rangers suffered a huge letdown getting beat by a Chicago Blackhawk team that started  Jeff Glass – a 32-year old rookie at goalie. I mean, really?  And just when you felt like 2018 may actually be a good year, the Rangers found a way to kick you.  Real hard.  “I saw one team playing hockey and the other chasing the whole night” is the way Ranger defenseman Ryan McDonough described it.  Hopefully though you all followed my advice and took the OVER 5.5 on the game and were able to salvage some of that optimism you started this young year with.  Hopefully.  But onward we move….and I am jacked!

New York Rangers Heading West!

The Rangers head out west to play all weekend and we couldn’t be more excited.  They open Saturday night versus a Arizona Coyotes team that has only managed 10 wins in 42 games (lol).  Arizona has almost no business playing in the NHL this year and you actually have to feel bad for them.  Their best player has a +/- of minus 21 but really they have just been bad everywhere on the ice. The Rangers get to greet and old friend though, Derek Stepan, in that contest, and I like that.  And if you’re playing props, I am going to pick him to score a goal in this one, as the Rangers are traditionally a mess versus ex-players (I am not sure that is even true, but it feels true!).

Sunday is a completely different story.  Rangers take a short trip to Sin City to play a Las Vegas Golden Knights team that has been nothing less than awesome this season.  Playing with a +29 goal differential to lead the Western Conference, Vegas has hit the hockey map hard,  led by a terrific goalie combination of Marc- Andre Fleury and 2012 first-round draft pick Malcolm Subban.  6’1” 24-year old William “Wild Bill” Karlsson leads the team with 20 goals and 38 points in 33 games, and has been arguably the team’s best special teams player, scoring 3 power play goals and 2 short-handed, while also leading the team with 4 game-winning goals.  The Rangers will have their work cut out here, but actually match up pretty well against this team, so I expect a close game in a tough road matchup.
