Vegas Golden Knights 

Vegas is riding a two-game winning streak, compliments of victories over the Nashville Predators and Arizona Coyotes. Those consecutive wins broke a three-game losing streak, leaving Vegas fifth in the Pacific Division with 30 points. The Golden Knights are five points away from Edmonton, and they can make some headway on this three-game road trip beginning Monday with the Rangers, followed by contests with the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders. The Rangers are up first, and this would be a massive win for Vegas.

The Golden Knights power-play unit is ninth in the NHL with a 21.8 percent success rate while the penalty kill unit is sixth in the National Hockey League with an 84.6 percent penalty kill rate this season.

Marc-Andre Fleury is likely tending to the win on Monday night. The veteran netminder is 11-6-2 this season with a 2.54 GAA and 91 percent save percentage. Fleury stopped 27 of 31 shots faced in a 4-2 loss to Edmonton on November 23 and hasn’t played since with an undisclosed injury. Fleury is listed as day-to-day for Monday night.

New York Rangers 

The Rangers are playing good hockey and have won four of their past five games. Solid victories over Montreal, Minnesota, Carolina and New Jersey alongside a 3-2 loss to the Boston Bruins leave New York in sixth place in the Metropolitan Division and 14 points behind division leader Washington. New York has Vegas at home, Columbus on the road and Montreal at home before heading out for a four-game West Coast road trip and these next three games are important if the Rangers want to move up in the Metropolitan standings.

New York has a 20.8 percent power-play success rate that ranks eleventh in the NHL and a 76.8 percent penalty kill rate that ranks twenty-third in the NHL this season.

Alexandar Georgiev is scheduled to guard the cage against Vegas and he’s 6-4-1 this season with a 3.07 GAA along with a 91 percent save percentage. Georgiev stopped all 33 shots he faced in his last start against New Jersey for his first shutout of the season.
