It’s that time of year Jets OTA’s have begun. As the contract disputes swim around other locker rooms, the Jets are focus on the up coming season. The Jets have a young core of players coming back to play for coach Todd Bowles. This is the season where he need to show the organization improvements to the team. Most of us jets fan feel that Todd Bowles is on the hot seat. The product on the field needs to be strong this season.

There are some off season move that will help this team be productive. The Jets keeping quarterback Josh McCown and signing Teddy Bridgewater, will leave the open door for the rookie Sam Darnold to watch and learn this season. Even with insiders in Jets camp saying that Sam has taken big steps in to leaning the playbook. From the film you see he can make all the throws. My question is, can he grow the trust and morale with his teammates as a team leader.

Let’s take a deeper look at some of the stand out so far in Jets OTA’s. The insiders said that Jamal Adams, last year rookie standout looks more like a caption of the defense. Leading some drills and helping the rookies this year with there playbooks. Jamal told SNY “The locker room energy, is through the roof”. For a Jets fan this is great news. Jamal is a great player. I will love to see him improve to a pro bowl player. Last season Jamal recorded 83 tackles, 2 sacks and 6 pass deflections in 16 starts.

The next big story coming in to OTA’s is the Jets running back situation. The Jets added some fire power after the retirement of Matt Forte at the end of this season. They picked up players like Isaiah Crowell from Cleveland, Thomas Rawls from Seattle. These 2 gentlemen In my opinion, will be competing for the starting job. As well they should be. The Jets are bring back Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire, who really have low production numbers in 2017. I believe that the Jets can have a 3 headed monster at running back. With Isaiah Crowell as speed back and Thomas Rawls as a power back. The Jets also drafted Trenton Cannon in the sixth round of this years draft out of Virginia State. The young man is a under size back. If he can put on the pounds this off season, he can be very useful for the Jets running game this season.

At the end of the day, we will see how the coaching prepares for this upcoming season. With a new scheme, some new coaches, and experience in the locker room, I cant wait for the start of training camp in July 24, 2018.
