NJD Vs PHI – Overview

Two old rivals, both geographically and from the old Patrick Division, now brethren of the Metropolitan Division, take the ice in the City of Brotherly Love. The New Jersey Devils are on the road as they take the short trip to face the Philadelphia Flyers Wednesday night. New Jersey was pasted 7-2 by Buffalo on the road Saturday night in their last contest. Philadelphia is still shaking off jet lag after opening their season with a 4-3 win over Chicago in the NHL Global Games in Prague Friday afternoon. The teams split four meetings last season with the Flyers claiming a 6-3 road victory in the most recent matchup on March 1, 2019.

NJD Vs PHI – 3 Key Takeaways

Philadelphia Flyers Home Opener – Wells Fargo Arena, Philadelphia-PA
7:30 p.m. Tonight! Philadelphia Flyers first home game of the season after playing one game in the Czech Republic as a part of the NHL’s Global Series.  In the first Philadelphia Flyers regular season game outside of North America, and in the debut of new head coach Alain Vigneault, the team came away with a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on the 4th.  Team is back in action tonight after recovering from some jet lag.

Wayne Simmonds Back In Philadelphia
So the veteran forward’s return to the City of Brotherly Love needed to wait until the 2019-20 season. He’ll step back on the ice at Wells Fargo Center for the first time tonight, wearing the jersey of one of the Flyers’ biggest rivals.  “Hopefully I get some cheers. I was pretty deep-rooted in that community,” Simmonds said. “I spent eight years there and had a great time. I enjoyed Philadelphia thoroughly. So I was proud to be a part of that franchise and don’t regret anything I did in a Flyers uniform.”

Devils on the Mend
The Devils will look to regroup after a couple tough losses and head into their third game of the regular season with a fresh lineup, a new game plan, and a lot of expectations.
