A much-anticipated match up between Yankees’ Masahiro Tanaka and the Angels’ Shohei Ohtani may have to wait. Ohtani, rolled his ankle in last night’s game, running out a ground ball, and is listed as day to day.
Tanaka is coming off of his best start of the season, allowing one run and three hits in 6 2/3 innings of a 14-1 win against the Twins on Monday.
But, even if the Ohtani/Tanaka match up doesn’t happen, this game will definitely feature the two hottest hitters in the majors with Didi Gregorius and Mike Trout. Both have 10 home runs on the young season.
Garrett Richards takes the mound for Anaheim. He is 0-3 in his career against the Yankees with a 6.65 ERA. However, only 3 current Yankees have every faced him, and one, Jacoby Ellsbury, is injured. The other two who have faced Richards are Brett Gardner and Aaron Hicks.
