Los Angeles Clippers Vs Boston Celtics Game Day Preview

Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics)

The last three times these two teams have crossed paths they’ve been classic battles. The Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers look to keep up their streak of close thrilling games on Tuesday. Last year the ball clubs pitched in a game of the year candidate in TD Garden when the Celtics won 141-133 in double overtime. Next meeting the Clippers got their revenge with a single overtime win by the score of 107-104. The C’s and Clips met earlier this year at Staples Center on February 5th which saw the Celtics come back from a 16 point deficit in a 109-105 victory.

Both teams missed one half of their wing duos in that game though. Both Jaylen Brown and Paul George missed that game but it still turned out to be a great one. This time George is back looking like himself and Brown was just deemed available by the medical staff about 2 hours before tip off. This stretch before the All-Star break is important for both squads to get some momentum going into the latter half of the season.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers are coming off a tough road loss against Giannis Antetounmpo and the Miluakee Bucks. The Clips had a tough time scoring down the stretch and only managed to put up 19 points in the 4th quarter. Kawhi Leonard was the only Clipper to score over 20 points. With that being said the team is still sitting at 3rd in a stacked Western Conference and look to be a definite contenders again this season.

Kawhi and PG lead the ship of course but the steady contributions from Lou Williams and Marcus Morris make them more well rounded. Nicholas Batum wasn’t really thought of last year but comes in to 2021 on a restructured contract and is giving the Clippers a nice dose of 3 and D action. The Clips look healthy and tonight should be a good test to see where they really are before the break.

The Celtics have been very inconsistent their last 20 games but come into this matchup winning two in a row for the first time since January. Brown as I mentioned earlier is playing tonight after missing the last game with left knee soreness. Brown has missed multiple games due to the same injury and has many fans wondering if he should just rest through the All-Star break with Marcus Smart.

The next two games for the C’s in my mind are very pivotal to gaining some momentum and ground in the Eastern Conference Standings. 6th in the East right now is obviously lower than everyone expected but I don’t expect them to be out of the top 5 for long. Whether Danny Ainge makes a move before the trade deadline or not time will certainly help this team with Kemba Walker, Smart, and Brown having some time to get healthier.

Clippers Vs Celtics Facts

  • Clippers are 41-16 ATS in their last 57 games following a straight up loss
  • Celtics are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record
  • Clippers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite
