Knicks Playing At Home On Christmas Day Is Tradition!

The NBA has become synonymous with Christmas Day and on this day… the New York Knicks have played more games than any other NBA team. (51 games in total with 42 having been played at Madison Square Garden) Beginning at Noon EST on December 25th, the Philadelphia 76ers will be coming into MSG to face off with the New York Knicks for their first meeting of the season.  Although we will not be seeing Julius Erving, Allen Iverson, Patrick Ewing or Walt Frazier – these two teams have up and coming talent such as Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and of course Kristaps Porzingis.  After a full morning of unwrapping presents I have my fingers crossed that these two teams will put on a great show.

Philadelphia Vs New York Christmas 1961

If we are lucky we will get a classic game like the one back in 1961.  On December 25, 1961 the Knicks beat the Philadelphia Warriors, 136-135, in double overtime.  It was the most points the Knicks have scored as a team in a single Christmas Day game.  Richie Guerin scored 40 points to pace the Knicks, while Wilt Chamberlain scored a game-high 59 for Philadelphia.  I would sign up for another marathon but more importantly, a Knicks “W”.

Holiday Basketball – What To Watch For

For the 1st NBA Christmas Day matchup, names of the past are being replaced with the young stars as well as Dario Šarić, Courtney Lee, Enes Kanter and Frank Ntilikina.

As for my 1st NBA “STATEMENTS” give me:

  1. The New York Knicks Will WIN By OVER 0.5 PTS
  2. Kristaps Porzingis OVER 26.5 PTS

As for a bonus… keying in on the Cleveland Cavaliers Vs the Golden State Warriors Game tipping off at 3 PM EST I will be analyzing Lebron James & Kyle Korver as possible STATMENTGAMES selections.  Follow me on Twitter to find out my top selection!

What STATEMENTS will you guys be taking on www.statementgames.com?  Enjoy yourselves and have a Happy Holiday!
