This isn’t something many Bruins fans thought they would be saying right now, but their hockey team is in a must-win situation tonight.

Boston hosts the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 4 of their second-round playoff series at TD Garden tonight facing a 2-1 series deficit. Things started off pretty well for the Black and Gold, as they cruised to a 6-2 win in Game 1 in Tampa Bay, but since then it’s been a completely different story. Tampa has won the last two games fairly convincingly and has done a great job at limiting Boston’s offensive attack.

While this isn’t an excuse, the Bruins have been on the wrong side of some really bad officiating, so they’ll have to tighten up their game in order to tie the series tonight.

And while poor officiating may have taken a little wind out of their sails, the bigger issue is that this once powerful Boston offense has scored only three goals in its last two games. Needless to say, Boston is in need of a spark, and they think they have an answer: Ryan Donato.

The young forward out of Harvard hasn’t played since Game 2 of the first-round series against Toronto and didn’t play particularly well, but the hope is he can contribute the way he did down the stretch in the regular season.

The Bruins are basically in desperation mode. If they lose Game 4, they are not winning this series. That being said….

To calm the nerves again, I’m going to be playing this game on www.statementgames.com. Two of my lock statements for this Game 4 are:

Boston Bruins WIN By OVER 1.5 Goals

Patrice Bergeron + Brad Marchand + David Pastrnak OVER 0.5 Goals
