AEW Dynamite 9/9 Show Preview
AEW ALL OUT has come and gone and now we face the fallout of the big event on this week’s Dynamite. While definitely newsworthy, ALL OUT was without a doubt the weakest pay-per-view AEW has delivered since they were created last year. The shoe felt too long and by the looks of it on social media, a lot of fans zoned out after Matt Hardy’s scary fall and the decision to continue his match. Matt Hardy will be on Dynamite this week to address that whole situation.
There will be a few talking segments on this week’s episode of Dynamite as there is plenty to talk about. The new AEW Tag Team Champions, FTR, will be celebrating their historic win. Jon Moxley retained his AEW World Championship at ALL OUT and he will be speaking about what comes next. What comes next is probably Lance Archer as he won the Casino Battle Royal and earned a future AEW World Heavyweight Championship Match. Archer will also be speaking on this show. Another segment announced is Kip Sabian choosing his best man for his wedding. Also don’t be surprised if we hear from MJF after losing to Moxley this past Saturday.
The match card for Dynamite looks good as Brodie Lee will be defending his TNT Championship against Dustin Rhodes. Inner Circle members, Chris Jericho & Jake Hager, will Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss in a NO DQ tag match. Another tag team match will feature the Lucha Bros. against Jurassic Express. Coming off his big win against Chris Jericho, Orange Cassidy will face Angelico. Lastly, Nyla Rose goes one on one with Tay Conti.
Brodie Lee vs. Dustin Rhodes – TNT Championship Match
Brodie Lee destroyed Cody to win the TNT Championship a few weeks and now he plans on doing the same to his brother, Dustin Rhodes. And if I’m right about AEW wanting to make Brodie Lee a monster, he will annihilate Rhodes in this match. All signs are pointing to making Brodie Lee a huge star in AEW. His match with Cody for the title was short and brutal and we should expect the same here. I think Brodie destroys Dustin Wednesday night and it leads to a future match with one of Cody’s best friends, Matt Cardona.
Matt Hardy Speaks After ALL OUT Controversy
The biggest story coming out of ALL OUT was the scary fall of Matt Hardy onto concrete and the decision to continue his match. In the opening moments of his match with Sammy Guevara, Matt Hardy took a fall from a structure about 15 feet off the ground. He was supposed to land on a table but missed it and his head hit the concrete and he was LEGIT knocked out. Referee, Aubrey Edwards, was clearly concerned and when Hardy clearly couldn’t continue, she stopped the match. But then, in one of the dumbest wrestling decisions ever, the match was restarted.
Twitter, as well as Matt’s wife Reby, exploded with angry comments about how AEW preaches putting the health of their performers first and then they make such an idiotic choice to continue the match. AEW tried all night to make any excuse possible to make themselves not look bad but the damage was done. Now, Matt Hardy will be on Dynamite to address everything that went down Saturday night. This is the segment every fan will be watching as it has been the biggest talking point in wrestling since it the fall occurred.
