AEW Dynamite 8/27 Show Preview
Due to the NBA Playoffs on TNT, AEW Dynamite did not air on its normal night last week and this week will be same as Dynamite will air LIVE on Thursday night as opposed to its normal Wednesday time slot. Even though Dynamite was on a different night last week, it did not miss a beat as it was a historic show. Brodie Lee became the new TNT Champion after he absolutely dominated Cody in their title match. Lee is just the second ever TNT Champion. The new champion will speak on the special Thursday edition of Dynamite.
Thursday’s Dynamite will continue AEW’s momentum as it will showcase the tag team division. There will be a 4 team gauntlet match with the winner receiving an AEW Tag Team Championship match at All Out next week. The contract signing for the AEW Championship match between Jon Moxley and MJF will also take place on this episode. Also on Dynamite, Sammy Guevara and Matt Hardy will finally go one on one in a Tables match.
Tag Team Gauntlet Match – Winner Receives Title Shot At All Out
4 of the best teams in AEW will battle in a gauntlet match to see who will face the AEW Tag Team Champions, Kenny Omega & Adam “Hangman” Page, at All Out on September 5th. The teams involved in the match will be the Natural Nightmares, FTR, the Young Bucks, and Best Friends. Sure, there are 4 teams involved but everyone knows the only logical winners for this match are FTR or the Young Bucks.
FTR, the Young Bucks, and Omega & Page are the 3 best tag teams in AEW. The Young Bucks, Omega, and Page are all part of the Elite but it seems like there might be some dissension in the ranks as Page has become friends with FTR. FTR have been rolling since debuting in AEW and they seem like the next AEW Tag Team Champions. THE MONEY MATCH in AEW right now is FTR against the Young Bucks for the titles but that match won’t happen until AEW can get a full crowd to witness it. That feud has been building for years and they are regarded as the best tag teams in the world.
So I see FTR winning this gauntlet match and then going on to defeat Omega & Page at All Out to become the next tag champions. There seems to be a major storyline brewing that involves FTR so they are going to be a big focal point of AEW programming. The gauntlet match will have a long running time due to the teams involved so it should be filled with exciting spots and surprises.
Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara – Tables Match
Sammy Guevara and Matt Hardy have been feuding for a few weeks now but the stakes were raised a couple of weeks ago when Guevara threw a chair at Hardy and LEGITIMATELY busted open his head. This accident was used in the storyline and has turned Hardy into a madmen. He attacked Guevara last week and gave him a severe beating.
The winner of this match is hard to predict since both men could use a big win. Since debuting in AEW, Hardy hasn’t really had a big singles win. On the other hand, Sammy has lost many of the big singles matches he has been a part of. Hardy is the bigger name here so going by that logic he should win the match. Guevara is still trying to get back some of his credibility after his recent problems behind the scenes so him doing the job to Hardy makes sense. Regardless, this should be a fun match especially since tables are involved. If Guevara does pull off the win, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Inner Circle has a hand in it.
