AEW Double Or Nothing 2020 Show Preview

Double or Nothing is one of All Elite Wrestling’s biggest shows of the year. The match card is one of the best AEW has ever put out with multiple potential match of year contenders. And although the pay per view is taking place in a mostly crowd-less arena, the show should still be full of excitement.

The Double Or Nothing event revolves around 3 main event matches. Jon Moxley will be defending his AEW World Championship against the leader of the Dark Order, Brodie Lee. The first TNT Champion will be crowned when Cody takes on Lance Archer. And the first ever Stadium Stampede will take place when the Inner Circle does battle with the Elite. This will be a night the pro wrestling world never forgets.

Jon Moxley vs. Brodie Lee – AEW World Championship Match

AEW is full of former WWE superstars. Jon Moxley and Brodie Lee are two of them. Both men left the WWE because they felt the company was not maximizing their potential and now both are in AEW doing big things. Jon Moxley is the company’s top star and champion while Lee is already a bigger star in AEW than he ever was in WWE. Lee has become a leading man instead of being a lackey and he has thrived so far in that role.

The issues between Moxley and Lee arised when Lee and his Dark Order faction sneak attacked Moxley and stole his AEW World Championship belt. Since that attack, Moxley has been dead set on getting back his title and destroying the Dark Order in the process. Now at Double or Nothing, the two men will face off for the AEW World Championship in what is sure to be a brutal, hard-hitting match. While Moxley has only been champion for a short time and should retain the title, a Brodie Lee win could send shockwaves throughout the entire wrestling industry. It would show that AEW is the land of opportunity and that anyone could be a huge star there as long as they put in the work.

Cody vs. Lance Archer – TNT Championship Match

The TNT Championship Tournament has given us plenty of great matches and it comes to its conclusion at Double Or Nothing when Cody battles Lance Archer. The winner will be crowned the first ever TNT Champion. Before this tournament started, Cody and Archer had started to feud as Archer had recently debuted and wanted to take out one of AEW’s top stars. When the brackets were released for the tournament and Cody and Archer were on opposite sides, many came to the conclusion that the two would meet in the finals.

Throughout the tournament, Lance Archer has made this feud more personal. In his second round match, Archer destroyed Cody’s brother, Dustin Rhodes. Archer and his manager, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, then proceeded to assault Cody’s wife, Brandi, with a live snake. Cody desperately wants to get his hands on Archer and he will in the TNT Championship match. Feuds that become personal always lead to great matches and this should be no different.

This match is a toss up as both men would be great choices to be the first TNT Champion. An added wrinkle to the match is that megastar Mike Tyson will be ringside to deliver the belt to the winner of the match. History has shown that when Mike Tyson is at a wrestling event, he gets involved. If AEW is looking to make headlines, someone should be on the receiving end of an “Iron Mike” right hand.

Inner Circle vs. The Elite – Stadium Stampede Match

The Inner Circle and The Elite have been feuding since the inaugural episode of AEW Dynamite. Both factions contain AEW’s best superstars which has led to a memorable feud and weekly excitement. The two factions were set to have a huge match back in March but that was delayed. That delay was a blessing in disguise as this feud has carried AEW during the crowd-free months and has caused AEW to not miss a beat even under the difficult circumstances.

But now we are finally going to get the Inner Circle and the Elite in a very big match. They will compete in the first ever Stadium Stampede match. This match will take place in TIAA Bank Field, the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars. A ring will be set up in the middle of the field and the two teams will battle in a no holds barred match. This match will be unlike anything wrestling fans have ever seen. These 10 superstars only deliver great matches and when put together, could potentially put on one of the greatest spectacles in wrestling history.
